Introduction
Simtower is a Windows 3.1 and Windows 95 game where the task is
to build a tower. You can build flats, hotel rooms, offices, cafes,
shops and like all other Maxis simulation games the whole idea is
to make money.
You start off with a one star ranking and you have to achieve the
TOWER ranking by increasing facilities and the tower's population.
The trouble is that people are fussy and don't want to wait long
for lifts but also don't want to walk up and down a lot of stairs.
A good transportation system is needed to keep people flowing quickly,
if you don't, people will leave and take their business with them.
Review
Simtower is not the best game of all time but it is a good try.
It's worth playing if you like other games like Simcity 2000.
There are 2D graphics and the sound is not as good as it could be.
The game annoys you sometimes as you can only select one object
at a time. If you want to change the rent for 20 offices you have
to change each office individually, you can't select them all at
once.
Like most other Maxis games it is addictive so I will give it 7
out of 10 as I just have to keep playing it. Buy the Book
Cheats
- Want a
large 1st floor lobby? Press "Control" while building
the lobby and you get a 2 story lobby. Press "Control"
and "Shift" at the same time while building the lobby
to get a three story lobby.
Future Ideas
If Maxis ever developed an updated Simtower game what features do
you think should be included? My ideas are:
- I think
a 3D tower block with 3D graphics should be available. I think
we should be able to build along all 4 walls of the tower not
just the one.
- I think
other features should be available like:
- power
cuts, so the lifts don't work etc.
- Bus
station, to go with the tube station.
