Things go
wrong with anything and unfortunately the SimTower Web Ring is
no exception. So here is a few questions which you might be asking
yourself.
I
would like to add my site to the web ring but don't want the HTMLfragment
on my homepage, what should I do?
It is a condition of being part of the web ring that the HTMLfragment
is on the page you have submitted. In this situation you have
two choices:
- You must
decide if you want visitors to arrive at your homepage and have
an HTMLfragment on your main homepage - or -
- you could
always allow visitors to arrive at a sub page, and see the HTMLfragment
there. This will cure your first problem but remember your visitors
are arriving at a subpage and may not take full advantage of
your whole site.
I
would like to add my site to the web ring but don't want any HTMLfragment
on any of my pages, is there anyway of joining?
No!
I
would like to join the web ring but don't have a site about SimTower,
can I still join?
No, but there are many web rings on all manner of subjects so
take a look at the providers of this service, Webring.Com.
Where
do I obtain the necessary HTMLfragment from?
- Go to
http://w.webring.com/hub?ring=simtower.
- If not
already signed in, Click on "Sign in" in the top right
hand corner, and login in.
- Once signed
in click on "My Rings" in the top right hand corner.
- Then click
"View Ring Sites".
- Then click
on your site title you want the code for.
- Then click
"Get Navigation Code"
- And copy
and paste this on to your web page.
I
have added the HTMLfragment to my site, but it is not working
properly, when I click on next and previous, strange messages
appear?
This is because sites are added by me, a human. I will try to
check sites as soon as possible but it is probably because I have
not noticed you have added the HTMLfragment that I have not added
you to the ring. You can prompt me by contacting
me.
My
site has been part of the Web Ring for a little while now, but
for some reason the next and previous links have stopped working?
Sites can only be removed from the ring by you, the web master
or me, the ring master.
If you leave the ring at any time, from then there is no point
in hosting the HTMLfragment anymore.
If you have not removed your site there is still two other possibilities.
Either the webring server is down, or I have removed your site
for some reason. If I have removed your site, I will have e-mailed
you at the e-mail address you submitted to tell you why. It is
probably because you have removed the HTMLfragment, but there
could be another reason.
I
don't have a web site but want to launch some information on to
the Internet, what should I do?
Most ISP (Internet Service Providers) provide free web space.
You can use this space, but this still leaves you with the problem
of designing and maintainging your site. If you don't want to
learn HTML or buy a web authoring tool, this is probably not the
way.
You could always go and get a site with a free provider like Geocities,
as they provide all the on-line help to building your own web
site you will ever need. However there is loads of advertising
and their servers are in America, so it is up to you.
If
there is a problem which I have not covered, what can I do?
Contact me by clicking here,
and I will do my best to sort out any problem quickly.
