Theme Parks

There are no theme parks within the central London area, but many can be reached easily by rail or road. The main theme parks are:

Chessington World Of Adventures - Great fun for all the family. Chessington is situated 12 miles from London on the A243, just 2 miles from the A3 and M25 (junction 9 or 10). OR take the train from London Waterloo to Chessington South and then a short walk.

Thorpe Park - Loads of stuff to do. Only 20 miles from London, being sited between junctions 11 or 13 of the M25. OR take the train from London Waterloo to Staines where a shuttle bus operates from Staines station to the Park.

Dreamland - A bit small, but good day out if sunny. On the Kent coast at Margate. Take the train from London Victoria or drive down the M2.

Adventure Island - A bit small, but good day out if sunny. On the Essex coast at Southend. Take the train from London Fenchurch Street or London Liverpool Street.

Alton Towers - A bit of a trek, at 161 miles away from London, but worth it for theme park lovers. Travel up the M1 to Junction 23a and then follow the signs. You can travel by train, but please plan the trip well in advance. Midland Mainline and Virgin have all inclusive day trips by train to the park.

Blackpool - Theme park and holiday town rolled into one on the North Western coast. You either will love or hate Blackpool. I love it, but Blackpool certainly can't be done in a day.
